New DC Universe boss James Gunn continues to set the record straight about his burgeoning film and TV universe — this time addressing the Green Lantern TV show.
There were unsubstantiated rumours on social media over the last few days that Gunn and fellow DC boss Peter Safran had pulled the plug on Arrowverse producer Greg Berlanti's HBO Max live-action adaptation of Green Lantern.
Gunn moved quickly to shut down this speculation, tweeting simply: "Fake."

It had been reported in the autumn that Berlanti was in the process of retooling his Green Lantern TV show concept. Originally, it would have focused on American Horror Story's Finn Wittrock and Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again's Jeremy Irvine as Guy Gardner and Alan Scott, two different generations of the intergalactic peace force.
This reworked version would have shifted focus to groundbreaking Black hero John Stewart, though it hasn't been confirmed yet whether the whole cast will be overhauled.
Gunn has been working overtime during the holidays to announce changes to the DCU as well as debunk speculation that he finds on social media.
After confirming both Dwayne Johnson and Henry Cavill will be leaving their DC roles, Gunn shares a lengthy message acknowledging a backlash from a section of fans.
"One of the things Peter & I were aware of when we took the job as heads of DC Studios was a certain minority of people online that could be, well, uproarious & unkind, to say the least," Gunn tweeted last week.
"Our choices for the DCU are based upon what we believe is best for the story & best for the DC characters who have been around for nearly 85 years. Perhaps these choices are great, perhaps not, but they are made with sincere hearts & integrity & always with the story in mind."
Zack Snyder's Justice League is out now on HBO Max in the US, and Sky Cinema and NOW in the UK.
