Jurassic World: Rebirth has received its first reactions, with reviewers calling the movie "a roaring triumph".

Directed by Gareth Edwards, the upcoming film stars Scarlett Johansson as a covert ops expert named Zora Bennett opposite Bridgerton star Jonathan Bailey, who portrays a palaeontologist named Dr Henry Loomis.

Rounding out the cast are stars including Rupert Friend, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Luna Blaise, Mahershala Ali, and David Iacono.

Following its UK premiere yesterday, critics took to social media to share their thoughts on the film, which is slated for release on 2 July.

Critic Barry Levitt said: "Hugely impressed by #JurassicWorldRebirth, a film that understands dinosaurs are both incredibly majestic and utterly terrifying. The ensemble is fun, and Dolores is the GOAT (iykyk)."

Set five years after the events of Jurassic World: Dominion, Rebirth takes place at a time when the "planet's ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs".

"Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived," reads the synopsis. "The three most colossal creatures within that tropical biosphere hold the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind."

Previously speaking about the film, which is the second longest in the Jurassic Park franchise, Edwards said: "To me, it's a giant love letter to Steven Spielberg and his earlier films. There are moments in this movie that remind me very much of Jaws."

Jurassic World Rebirth is released in cinemas on 2 July 2025.
