Chris Pratt has confirmed that he will reprise his role as a much-loved character, adding that it is "coming soon".

Best known for his roles in Guardians of the Galaxy, Jurassic World and Parks and Recreation, the actor has a sizable back catalogue across the last decade, but he won't be returning to the respective roles of Star-Lord, Owen Grady and Andy Dwyer just yet.

Instead, Pratt will be reprising his voice role as the iconic Garfield for the upcoming sequel to The Garfield Movie, with the actor confirming the news via Instagram as he wrote: "Your favourite house cat is making a comeback... Garfield 2 coming soon!"

The post was accompanied by a video in which 'Garfield 2' was written on top of a pizza, with Pratt looking to the camera as he said: "Pizza's here. Oh wait, who ordered this? You did."

The first film, which boasted a stacked voice cast including Samuel L Jackson and Hannah Waddingham, saw Garfield reunite with his long-lost father as they embark on a high-stakes adventure.

While Pratt will reprise his role as the lasagne-loving cat, the actor recently reunited with Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame directors The Russo Brothers for The Electric State, a sci-fi action film based on Simon Stålenhag's 2018 graphic novel.

Co-starring Millie Bobby Brown, the film is set in an alternate world where a war between humans and robots has left the world in disarray. After coming across a sentient robot, Michelle (Brown) searches for her long-lost brother.

Pratt, who plays smuggler John D Keats, previously explained how his character shared similarities with Star-Lord, explaining: "They're both products of the same era, so there's a similarity in the sense of nostalgia for an era that's bygone.

"Obviously, [Peter] Quill has all of these pop culture references to the '80s, things that helped inform him and who he was before he left Earth at 13. Keats is also a product of that time. So in that regard, they're similar."

The sequel to The Garfield Movie does not yet have a release date. The Electric State is streaming on Netflix.
