Ariana Grande has joined the cast of the unexpected Meet the Parents sequel, which was announced last December.
The hugely popular comedy franchise kicked off in 2000, with Ben Stiller playing Greg Focker, a nice guy meeting his girlfriend Pam's family for the first time. He starred opposite Robert De Niro, who played Pam's protective father Jack, a retired CIA operative.
The hit movie later received two sequels, 2004's Meet the Fockers and 2010's Little Fockers. Now, after 15 years, a fourth instalment is officially in the works with Wicked star Grande set to join the action.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the upcoming movie will revolve around Greg and Pam's son, as he gets engaged to an audacious woman who doesn't appear to be a good match for him.
Grande will reportedly play the part of the fiancée, with Stiller and De Niro reprising their iconic roles. Meanwhile, Blythe Danner (Dina Byrnes) and Teri Polo (Pam Byrnes-Focker) are also expected to feature.

The sequel is scheduled for a 25 November 2026 release date and will see the return of much of the franchise's creative team.
John Hamburg, who co-wrote the first three titles, will serve as writer, director and producer. Meanwhile, Jay Roach, who directed on the previous instalments, will now be producing.

Jane Rosenthal and De Niro will be back to produce via their Tribeca Productions, alongside Stiller and John Lesher under their Red Hour Films banner.
In a recent interview with Variety, Rosenthal discussed the upcoming project, saying she had "always talked about" a fourth instalment.
"Ben Stiller is now the same age that [Robert De Niro] was when we did the first one, and his kids have grown up, and they have to come home and meet the parents," she said, adding: "I can't disclose anything else about the plot."
