The White Lotus season 3 star Patrick Schwarzenegger has thrown his hat in the ring to lead the American Psycho remake.

It has been reported that Challengers, Call Me By Your Name and Queer director Luca Guadagnino is set to helm a new adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis' novel.

When the news was first reported last year, Schwarzenegger wrote that it was "my dream", and following a new article suggesting talks have begun with actors, he commented: "I'd love nothing more".

It's worth nothing that Austin Butler was previously rumoured to have signed up for the lead role, although this hasn't been officially confirmed.

American Psycho follows Patrick Bateman, a investment banker on Wall Street and caricature of vacuous Yuppie culture. He might also be a serial killer, but as one of fiction's most famous unreliable narrators, it's not clear if he just made it up.

The Dark Knight trilogy actor Christian Bale starred in the previous film version in 2000, which became a cult favourite.

Back in 2022, Bale actually spoke about his own dream role, revealing that he very specifically wants to be an accident-prone Stormtrooper in Star Wars, similar to one that appears in A New Hope.

"All I ever wanted in Star Wars was to be in a Star Wars outfit and hit my head on a door or something as I walked through," he said.

"The real nerds who watched Star Wars way too many times always knew about that one scene where the Stormtrooper hits his head on the door as he comes through. I wanted to be that guy. That was it."
