Tom Hiddleston has finally broken his silence on what he described as a "remarkable" return to a fan-favourite role.

Last month, Marvel Studios announced the cast of Avengers: Doomsday, revealing via one of their chairs that Tom Hiddleston would be reprising the role of Loki for the upcoming movie.

Speaking in an interview with Max Balegde on TikTok, Hiddleston opened up about returning to the MCU, saying he was thrilled to finally be able to talk about the role.

Quizzed by Balegde about how excited he is to return for Avengers: Doomsday, Hiddleston said: "Very, very excited.

"It's really remarkable that I can talk about it because I'm mostly in a position of knowing and not being able to say anything."

Asked what it feels like having to keep such a big secret, the Loki actor said: "It's weird. It's strange. You have to be just very disciplined about carrying this secret around, but it’s been an extraordinary chapter of my life playing Loki, and it’s not over yet."

Hiddleston last played the God of Mischief in season 2 of the Disney+ show Loki back in 2023. Speaking at the time, Hiddleston addressed his future in the MCU, saying he couldn't rule out another appearance.

"I have at least twice in my life said goodbye," he said.

"I've written to Kevin Feige and Louis de Esposito and Victoria Alonso and been like, 'Thank you so much. It's been like the role of a lifetime', and they've written notes back saying, 'Come and see us anytime. You're always part of the family. We're always here. You've given us so much and tears have been shared'.

"So, I think I'd be unwise at this point to be conclusive about any of it."

Avengers: Doomsday is released in cinemas on May 1, 2026.
