Matthew Lillard has shared his fears about returning to Scream, admitting that he's "slightly terrified to be back".
In the original 1996 cult classic, Lillard's character Stu Macher was revealed to be behind the murderous Ghostface mask, alongside his partner in crime Billy Loomis (Skeet Ulrich).
The pair committed a killing spree before they ultimately received their comeuppance and were both killed at the end of the film.
Earlier this year, it was announced that Lillard would be reprising his iconic role in the seventh instalment of the franchise. The actor addressed his upcoming return while speaking on a panel at 90s Con.
"I will say, I can't say anything about it, obviously. But I am very excited and slightly terrified to be back because all I can do is really screw up a legacy that we have," Lillard told People's Breanne L. Heldman.

"I could really suck, and so that's my fear. My fear is that I come back and sort of punish something that I could never have touched and been just fine. I hope I don't f it up for everyone."
The news of Stu Macher's return was celebrated by Lillard who shared a cryptic post at the the time of the announcement. The Instagram video featured an iconic quote from the original Scream: "My mom and dad are gonna be so mad at me!"
