The Losers, a forgotten 2010 comic book movie starring Marvel actor Chris Evans, has been added to Prime Video in the UK and Ireland.

Based on the Vertigo Comic series of the same name, The Losers centres on a CIA special forces team who are betrayed and left for dead by their superiors, galvanising them to mount an offensive.

As well as Evans, cast members include Luther's Idris Elba, The Walking Dead's Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Avatar's Zoe Saldaña.

The film received mixed reviews from critics following its release, earning it a score of 47% on Rotten Tomatoes from over 100 reviews.

"The Losers is loud, fast, and unrelentingly violent – but it's also funny and well-acted, which will make all the difference for some action fans," reads the site's critical consensus.

The film's director, Sylvian White, previously explained that he immediately connected with The Losers after drawing parallels to the graphic novels he read as a child.

"What appealed to me about The Losers was that it wasn't the typical superhero-with-superpowers thing," he said (via Den of Geek).

"It was based on real characters – realistic characters – and based in reality, like a lot of the European graphic novels that I had grown up reading."

In other news, Evans recently responded to the reports that he's returning to the MCU for Avengers: Doomsday.

An article from Deadline in December "confirmed" that the actor had signed on for Marvel's next big team-up film, due out next year.

However, Evans denied the report in January, saying: "That’s not true, though. This always happens. I mean, it happens every couple years – ever since Endgame. I've just stopped responding to it. Yeah, no – happily retired!"

Evans famously portrayed Captain America in the MCU until 2019's Avengers: Endgame, after which Anthony Mackie took up the mantle. He was last seen in the universe in last summer's Deadpool & Wolverine, where he reprised his role as Johnny Storm from Fox's Fantastic Four movies.

The Losers is available to stream now on Prime Video in the UK and Ireland.
