Colin Farrell is in talks to star in Luca Guadagnino's upcoming DC movie.

According to Deadline, the actor is circling the lead role in Sgt Rock, which would mark his second DC role after starring in Max's acclaimed series The Penguin last year.

The news comes shortly after it was announced that Daniel Craig dropped out of his role in the film, having previously been unofficially attached to star as the comic book hero.

Sgt Rock (aka Franklin John Rock) was first introduced in the 1959 DC issue Our Army at War, and is known for leading the Easy Company during World War II with his no-nonsense attitude.

The project marks a reunion for Guadagnino and Justin Kuritzkes, who wrote the scripts for Guadagnino's 2024 movies Challengers and Queer.

Despite being originally billed as a miniseries, Reeves recently teased that fans could be treated to some more episodes digging deeper into Gotham City's criminal underbelly.

"Yeah, we're talking to [showrunner] Lauren [LeFranc] about doing another season," he told Variety. "That was a special experience. I just feel really fortunate."

"These characters don't belong to me; they belong to the world," he added. "It comes down to whether you can approach them in a way that expresses something personal."

The Penguin also stars Cristin Milioti, Rhenzy Feliz, Mark Strong, Michael Kelly, Deirdre O'Connell, Clancy Brown and Carmen Ejogo, to name but a few.

Sgt Rock doesn't have a release date yet. The Penguin airs on Max in the US, and NOW and Sky Atlantic in the UK.
