Split Fiction has only been out for a few weeks, but a movie adaptation is already in the works.
The latest title from the team behind the Game of the Year winner It Takes Two, Split Fiction follows two aspiring writers who are trapped in the worlds of the stories they've written. While journeying through various science-fiction and fantasy locales, they team up to break free.
In a new report from Variety, the group Story Kitchen are putting together a package for the film – including writers, actors, and a director – in order to sell it. Multiple Hollywood studios are interested, and a bidding war has already begun.

A movie adaptation of It Takes Two was previously picked up by Amazon, who will be producing it alongside Dwayne Johnson's company Seven Bucks.
Split Fiction has sold over 2 million units in its first week on sale, and currently stands as the highest-rated game of 2025 on Metacritic with a score of 91.

In Digital Spy's own review, we said: "Many of the puzzle and platforming segments are designed to take advantage of the two players' contrasting abilities, in a way that requires both to collaborate and help each other progress.
"The creativity on show and the mileage that the game gets from this concept and from playing with different perspectives is impressive. That extends to the boss fights, which have great variety and are some of the more challenging parts of the game."
Our review also noted that the game doesn't outstay its welcome, and in fact we'd have liked it to be even longer.
Split Fiction is out now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
