Scream 7 hasn't had the smoothest route to the screen, but filming is finally underway on the horror sequel.

The new movie marks Scream creator Kevin Williamson's return to the series after writing the first four movies. He's directing Scream 7, which also marks Neve Campbell's return as Sidney Prescott after she skipped Scream 6.

Filming on Scream 7 started yesterday (January 7) and Williamson celebrated the occasion on Instagram despite joking that, "I'm not supposed to post about Scream".
