Jenna Ortega reportedly won't be returning for Scream 7.
The actress, who played Tara Carpenter in the latest two instalments of the long-running slasher franchise, is sitting out the next film due to a scheduling conflict, according to reports from Deadline.
The publication states that discussions about continuing the film series without Ortega occurred even before the actors' union SAG-AFTRA went on strike earlier this year (a day before Beetlejuice 2, which Ortega stars in, was originally set to wrap).

What's apparently getting in the way of Scream 7 is the second season of Wednesday, which is scheduled to begin in Ireland next April and will last long into the summer.
As for why Scream 7 can't be filmed first, not only does Ortega have multiple other projects on her plate, but the script for the horror sequel also isn't yet finished.
