Jonathan Bailey has revealed there's a naked photo of him from the set of Wicked, though he added that it would never see the light of the day.

The musical-fantasy film, which is based on the hit Broadway show, follows Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) and Glinda (Ariana Grande) as they meet at university, starting a journey of friendship that will end in rivalry.

Ahead of the film’s release next month (November 22), Bailey did a promotional interview via the film’s official Instagram account, sharing that a travel mishap left him a little light on clothing as he prepared to assume the role of Fiyero Tigelaar.

“So my first in-person meeting, knowing that I was going to play Fiyero, was with the guy that made my 'Dancing Through Life' boots,” he began, “I think I flew over on a Tuesday, and then I was filming Bridgerton on the Wednesday to Saturday.

“As I got there, nothing arrived. So all I had was my Fiyero boots. There's an amazing photo that no one's ever going to see of me in nothing but my boots, which sort of felt right for Fiyero somehow.”

While Bailey reminisced on the exposing photo, the character of Fiyero could have been played by a different actor altogether, with Nick Jonas sharing that he and his brother Joe had auditioned for the role.

“Yes, it's true. Joe and I both went out, and we didn't get it,” said Nick. But that's the life of an actor. The role was Fiyero. I think it went really well. I was very happy coming out of the room.

“I'm a huge fan of the show and that's a role I always thought it would be fun to play. But I think Jonathan is going to do a great job, and I'm sure the movie is going to be great.”

Wicked is in cinemas on November 22.
