The Umbrella Academy star Justin H Min's new sci-fi movie has had its UK release confirmed, with After Yang officially set to land on Sky Cinema.
The drama, which is a Sky Original film, tells the story of a family who lose their AI helper, Yang (played by Min), when he malfunctions.
Yang's owner Jake (The Batman star Colin Farrell) is left searching for a way to repair him in order to help his young daughter Mika (iCarly's Malea Emma Tjandrawidjaja), who saw Yang as a beloved companion akin to a sibling.

In the process of trying to fix Yang, Jake finds that some profound feelings are awoken and he soon discovers that life has been passing him by, prompting him to reconnect with his daughter and his wife Kyra (Anne Boleyn's Jodie Turner-Smith) across a distance he didn't know existed.
The movie is directed and written by Pachinko's Kogonada and is based on the short story by Alexander Weinstein.

Having debuted at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival, After Yang has received positive critical reviews, with The Hollywood Reporter calling it "a film of transporting grace and compassion, cerebral but never cold".
IndieWire wrote: "After Yang whispers a powerful fable about an all too present tomorrow in which people are more intimate with technology than they are with their own family.
"Few movies have ever felt so knowing or non-judgmental towards the love that we divert onto material things, and even fewer have so earnestly speculated that those things might be able to love us back."

Min will be playing a rather different version of his Umbrella Academy character, Ben Hargreeves, when the Netflix series returns for season three next month, as Ben has undergone a Sparrow Academy transformation in the new episodes.
His Hargreeves siblings received a shock in the season two finale when they returned from avoiding an apocalypse in the past, only to find that they had returned to an alternate present where the academy was filled with a different group of powered siblings – including the deceased Ben, who was very much alive in the new timeline.
Min has spoken out about the changes that we can expect to see in this alternate version of Ben, calling him "a very impressionable person".
"I think nurture is a huge striving force behind whoever Ben is and whoever Ben becomes," he explained.
"So in this alternate reality where they're being trained as these assassins and mighty superheroes who are famous and well-known, these are all things that we talked about leaving a great impression on Ben."
The Umbrella Academy seasons 1-2 are now streaming on Netflix. Season 3 is due to premiere on June 22.
