War World II drama Operation Mincemeat is about to grace our screens after having its release date delayed last December.

In an exclusive clip, fans can admire some of the stars of John Madden's film in action. Operation Mincemeat features a star-studded ensemble including Line of Duty's Kelly Macdonald and Succession's Matthew Macfayden, as well as Colin Firth and Penelope Wilton.

The film revolves around the British Military Intelligence's deception efforts to keep the 1943 Allied invasion of Sicily under the radar. The plan involved using an unidentified man's body to hide secret correspondence about an apparent mission.

However, the fictitious Royal Marines officer, William Martin, was not a real person – and the correspondence found with the body was false intelligence to keep the Allies' true operation under wraps.

In the clip, the characters make up details about Martin's life to create a solid cover story.

Macfayden and Firth are Charles Cholmondeley and Ewen Montagu respectively, the two intelligence officers in charge of the operation. Harry Potter star Jason Isaacs plays Royal Navy officer John Godfrey, and Emma. star Johnny Flynn portrays James Bond author Ian Fleming, while Mark Gatiss plays Montagu's brother, Ivor.

The official synopsis for the movie reads: "The Allies are determined to break Hitler's grip on occupied Europe, and plan an all-out assault on Sicily; but they face an impossible challenge – how to protect a massive invasion force from potential massacre.
