The New Mutants may be delayed beyond all reasonable expectations, but it's still not coming direct to streaming platforms.
The troubled X-Men spin-off was originally due for release in April 2018, but a series of delays, reshoots and the global coronavirus pandemic has seen the release pushed to August 28 (as things currently stand, at least).
Since the Disney/Fox merger, the film now exists under the Disney umbrella, with the Mouse House considering switching some of its theatrical releases to streaming services Disney+ or Hulu while the pandemic continues (Artemis Fowl and Hamilton are two recent examples).

Speaking recently, The New Mutants director Josh Boone explained why a streaming-first release isn't possible for the beleaguered film.
"With most movies, you sign contracts that guarantee a theatrical release, so it needs to open to ever go digital in the first place," he told Collider.
"We just, too, would like to see people to see it in the theatre. But it needs to obviously be at the right time when it’s safe to go back."
Boone's comments follow The New Mutants writer Knate Lee putting a positive spin on all thoe delays.

They also follow a dramatic new opening scene and trailer for the movie, released during the film's Comic-Con@Home panel.
Hopefully, we'll see the rest some time this century...
The New Mutants is still set for release on August 28.
