Netflix has revealed that The Old Guard is one of its most watched original films ever.
Based on Greg Rucka's comic book of the same name, the popular adaptation centres on a group of immortal mercenaries' fighting for survival after a pharmaceuticals mogul sets out to capture them and harness their regenerative healing abilities.
Starring Kiki Layne, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Charlize Theron, it landed on the streaming platform on Friday, July 10.

"THE OLD GUARD is breaking records," the service stated on Twitter recently. "The Charlize Theron blockbuster is already among the top 10 most popular Netflix films ever – and Gina Prince-Bythewood is the first Black female director on the list.
"The film is currently on track to reach 72M households in its first 4 weeks!"
Just last week, Netflix confirmed that Extraction, its Chris Hemsworth-fronted action-thriller, had pulled in the most viewers out of all of its films across its library. It is said to have been watched by 99 million subscribers since its release on April 24.
Responding to Deadline's original report, Hemsworth took to Instagram to thank his followers for their "continued support" of his movie.
"Still going strong and sitting at number 1 biggest film ever for Netflix," he added. "You guys are the greatest."

Elsewhere, Bird Box had been streamed 89 million times, while Mark Wahlberg drama Spenser Confidential bagged 85 million views. Other titles that made the list included Martin Scorsese's award-winning drama The Irishman and Ryan Reynolds' 6 Underground.
The Old Guard is currently in sixth place, having booted The Perfect Date off the list.
