Poor The New Mutants. The horror-themed X-Men spin-off looked like it was in trouble at 20th Century Fox even before The Walt Disney Company bought them out, and then it felt like the House of Mouse were likely to just quietly shelve the project and hope we all forgot about it.
But even though the film is now finally coming out, it's still encountering some unfortunate issues.
Recently, an official Disney website for their D23 expo erroneously classified the film as "a seriously electrifying new addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe", which no doubt confused some fans.
Whether the film would be 'seriously electrifying' is yet to be decided, it definitely isn't part of the shared universe that Kevin Feige and co have been building since 2008. Thankfully, the error has been removed from the website.
The New Mutants was originally filmed all the way back in 2017, and there were plenty of rumours going around that Disney had delayed the movie in order to work in some more reshoots, possibly to make it an R-rated movie.
But director Josh Boone has stated than an R-rating was never on the cards, and that the version that will be released is his original vision.
