Despite the rumours and that patent filing, it seems Sony isn't preparing to launch a professional grade PS4 Elite Controller.
Speaking to Digital Spy at Tokyo Game Show, Masayasu Ito, EVP Hardware Engineering, revealed that the company has no plans to launch any kind of eSports focused controller.
"We're not planning to develop any new controllers for PS4 Pro specifically, but there's a possibility that one of our third party partners may create licensed products - that's not planned or in development but just a thought," said Ito-san.
That came as quite a surprise to us as a patent filed by Sony emerged in June detailing what looked like an eSports controller.
The images suggested the pad would allow players to swap the positioning of the D-Pad, face buttons and analogue sticks to create custom controller layouts.

This patent was actually a re-file of old patents on the DualShock 4 design, which prompted the internet furore.
After all, the Xbox One Elite Controller has proved to be very popular, so why wouldn't Sony launch its own?
However, Ito-san himself stated that he was "not aware of [the patent filing]".
Our thumbs can only hope that Ito-san is just bluffing and we could see an Elite Controller launch for the PS4 Pro in the future.
The PS4 Pro arrives in November boasting enhanced specs, support for 4K and HDR gaming and a revamped design.
It also comes with the snazzy new DualShock 4, which is basically the same apart from a new slither of light bar on the touch pad.
