Mass Effect is getting its own 4D interactive theme park ride.

Opening in 2016 at California's Great America in Santa Clara, the ride will be curated by a live performer, who will take visitors on a journey to a distant planet.

8 Nintendo games we want turned into Universal Studios theme park rides

Over the course of the journey, visitors will face off against "larger-than-life foes and fight to save the day".

"Using cutting-edge 3D technology and 4D effects, the ride throws passengers right into the action, creating a fantastical adventure that they won't soon forget."

Mass Effect isn't the only video game property to be given the theme park treatment.

Ubisoft is hoping to open a 10,000-square-metre indoor theme park in 2020 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, while Nintendo has teamed with Universal.
