On Thursday, BioWare is dropping a chunky update that addresses some of Mass Effect: Anromeda's rough edges.

Patch 1.05 contains enhancements to stability and performance, alongside a bunch of quality of life improvements that seem to focus on areas of pressing criticism.

What to Read Next

One of Andromeda's most maligned features was the game's animation. 1.05 will add more accurate lip syncing, along with fixes to Ryder's movements when running in a zig-zag.

Other important updates include the ability to skip transitions between planets and the galaxy map – something which infuriated us during our playthrough – and a decreased cost of Remnant decryption keys.

The full patch notes are available here. These also make reference to "improved logic, timing, and continuity for relationships and story arcs", which sounds like it will afford players a smoother, more enjoyable experience with companions. But it's going to take more than than a single patch to tease any personality from the snooze-worthy crew members on the Tempest.

BioWare has also revealed its plans for patches over the next two months where it aims to achieve the following:

  • More options and variety in the character creator;
  • Improvements to hair and general appearance for characters;
  • Ongoing improvements to cinematic scenes and animations;
  • Improvements to male romance options for Scott Ryder;
  • Adjustments to conversations with Hainly Abrams.

"We want to hear from you about your experiences, both what you love about the game and what you'd like to see changed," reads a note from BioWare.

"We're listening, and we're committed to partnering with you as we continue to explore the Andromeda galaxy together."
