Upcoming PS4 racer Gran Turismo Sport won't feature dynamic weather or time of day, with these options instead existing as pre-race tweaks.

Dynamic weather and time of day were touted features of the PS3 Gran Turismo games, but they've apparently been removed so Polyphony can concentrate on improving the overall look.

"We opted to not have the transitions in the race this time in order to raise the frame rate and the quality of the image during the race," series creator Kazunori Yamauchi explained to GT Planet

"So the user will be able to set that before they enter the race. So you'll still be able to have night races, morning, races at dawn, dusk, and so on."

In better news, the game will feature a damage model, though it's not clear how much damage it allows your vehicles to take. The studio is also targeting 1080p and 60fps.

This news of the missing features follows that of another expected release: the beta.

"In order to do a beta test, you have to make a gold master of the beta test code, and for us it actually takes as much effort as to finish the real master code for the actual game," Yamauchi told Digital Spy.

"We can't, just because it's an open beta, throw it out there. It's required that we create a proper master for it, and considering the release timing we announced, we decided that we don't have time to do two masters. By omitting that, it saves us around three months of time."
