Supergirl's new trailer takes you up, up and away.

Delivering quite a lot of action for its brief 30-second running time, CBS's latest teaser has Melissa Benoist taking a few bullets and saving a doomed plane.

The heroic Kara Zor-El will take to the skies after a lifetime of hiding in the new series from Arrow and The Flash producer Greg Berlanti.

Supergirl naturally captures the public's attention with her incredible powers, but soon evil alien criminals and shady government officials emerge as dangerous enemies.

The CBS pilot will have its official debut at Comic-Con International this week, following a mixed reception to previous footage unveiled this past spring.

Last week, Melissa Benoist urged DC Comics fans not to rush to judgment about the tone and subject matter of Supergirl.

"I want to do right," she explained. "Of course, this is a broad statement, but I want to do right by women. I want to portray someone they can relate to and look up to that's not a trite or a shallow depiction.

"I want her to be complicated and flawed. I don't want it to be campy. I want it to be grounded and human."

Supergirl will launch on US television on October 26 on CBS. A high-quality version of the series pilot was leaked online in May - six months ahead of intended transmission.
