By The BBC has confirmed that it received 445 complaints about Phil Neville's commentary of England vs Italy at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
The former England defender co-commentated the match alongside Guy Mowbray on Saturday (June 14) and was the subject of much mirth and criticism on Twitter for his supposedly soporific voice.
Neville responded to the social media reaction by thanking fans for the feedback and saying that it will only make him better.
A BBC statement read: "Phil is an important, well-respected member of our team and will continue to play a key role throughout the tournament, both as a studio guest and match commentator."
Neville will be a studio pundit for Iran vs Nigeria today (June 16), for Russia vs South Korea tomorrow (June 17) and Nigeria vs Bosnia on Saturday (June 21).
England's next two group games, against Uruguay on Thursday (June 19) and Costa Rica next Tuesday (June 24) are being broadcast live on ITV, but Neville will be co-commentator for the BBC's highlights packages for both games.
