Marvel's Agents of SHIELD has been renewed by ABC for a seventh season, the network has confirmed.
The announcement comes months ahead of the premiere of the show's sixth season, which is set to debut next summer.
The renewal means that SHIELD is the only Marvel Television series left on ABC, after the cancellation of Inhumans.
The news that season six of SHIELD had been pushed back to the summer caused some speculation that this was the end of the series.
However, ABC head Channing Dungey explained the decision to move it to the summer was actually in the hope of it earning a renewal.
"We'll see [if it's the end]," she said. "I feel like last season was our strongest creative season ever and the fanbase remains very loyal – and we do very well in delayed viewing. It's my hope that by moving it to summer, where our live-same-day ratings are less important and it might be able to continue for longer."

And in August, Dungey also teased that the network could be adding another Marvel show to its line-up.
"In terms of Marvel, we have some things that we are in discussions with them right now that we are in development," she said.
Dungey didn't go into much more detail about any particular properties they were adapting, but added that she is "very excited about it".
Marvel's Agents of SHIELD airs on ABC in the US and on E4 in the UK.
