Jean-Luc Picard's new Star Trek series will not be crossing over with Star Trek: Discovery – but we do know when it'll start filming.
Speaking to TrekMovie at New York Comic Con over the weekend, executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Heather Kadin revealed that the writers' room is "four weeks in", and that production on the Picard show is expected to start in April 2019.
Responding to a fan question during the panel's Q&A, Kurtzman also said that Sir Patrick Stewart's character "will not mesh into this season [of Discovery], that will be its own thing".
Still, Kurtzman and Kadin did confirm that the Picard series will be ongoing, and will hopefully run for multiple seasons.
When news of Picard's next mission was announced, Stewart promised a "fresh, unexpected and pertinent" take on the Star Trek franchise.
"It is... an unexpected but delightful surprise to find myself excited and invigorated to be returning to Jean-Luc Picard and to explore new dimensions within him," he said in a statement. "Seeking out new life for him, when I thought that life was over."

Meanwhile, Marina Sirtis – aka Deanna Troi – said that the rest of the Next Generation cast have not been asked to appear in the new spin-off.
Appearing at Rose City Comic Con, Marina told fans at the event that they knew "nothing" about the new show. "Don't ask us anything," she warned.
Addressing rumours that the USS Enterprise-D crew were getting back together, Marina said: "All I have to say – all we have to say – when Patrick said 'Jean-Luc Picard is back', he didn't say, 'The Next Generation is back'."
"We weren't asked," she added
Elsewhere in the Star Trek universe, Discovery airs on CBS All Access in the US and Netflix internationally, including the UK.
