Earlier this year, Altered Carbon's leading man Joel Kinnaman said that he didn't expect to return for season two, what with it all being about people jumping from body to body and all.
And lo and behold, we've got ourselves a new lead for the now-officially confirmed second season – and it's an Avenger at that.
Yup, Anthony Mackie (who plays the Falcon/Sam Wilson in Avengers: Infinity War and the rest) is your new Takeshi Kovacs.
As well as Kinnaman, the character has been previously been portrayed by Will Yun Lee and Byron Mann, so it's not as if this is out of the blue for the series.
If reports are to be believed, Netflix will start production on the second season in October 2018, which would mean it will land in late 2019 at the earliest.
With Kovacs remaining as the leading character, we imagine that means season two will (begin to) adapt Richard K Morgan's novels Broken Angels and Woken Furies. Angels is set 30 years after Altered Carbon and involves corporate wars on alien planets, Martian artefacts that open portals to outer space and... do you know what, we won't say anymore.
What to Read Next
Morgan himself has previously said that "if all goes well" the show "will run for five seasons", so if you think that the second novel is a departure from the first, just you wait.
Altered Carbon is currently available to stream on Netflix.
