Netflix has confirmed that the second season of sci-fi series Altered Carbon will hit the streaming platform on February 27.

The show, which is based on the novel by Richard K. Morgan, is set in a future where humans can upload their consciousness into different bodies.

Season one saw Joel Kinnaman play lead character Takeshi Kovacs, while in season two it will be Marvel's Falcon star Anthony Mackie who takes on the role.

He'll also be joined by fellow Marvel stars Simone Missick, who played Detective Misty Knight in Netflix's Luke Cage, and Dina Shihabi, who appeared in Daredevil as Neda Kazemi.

Last year, Kinnaman spoke exclusively to Digital Spy about the recasting, saying that he predicts a woman could take on the role in the future.

"That was always the intention of the show, and I thought that that was a very cool concept, that the character would continue, but a new actor would play him for each season," he said.

"So I wouldn’t be surprised if in another season, we see a woman playing the same character. That's the possibility when people can change bodies."

Season two of Altered Carbon comes to Netflix on February 27. Avengers: Endgame is out now on DVD, Blu-ray, 3D, 4K and digital download.
