We knew that American Horror Story season eight would take place in "the future", and now Ryan Murphy has confirmed exactly when it is set.
Talking at an event on Friday (April 6), Murphy revealed that the new instalment is set "18 months from today", making it late 2019. But he wouldn't confirm rumours that it is called American Horror Story: Radioactive, only saying that they start shooting in June.
But that's not the only details he announced, as we also know that fan favourite Evan Peters will be playing a comedic hair stylist whose grandmother will be played by the one and only Joan Collins.
"The funny thing is, we shot Cult and it was very taxing on Evan, and around Thanksgiving, I was talking to Evan and he said, 'You know this show is so hard, it's so difficult to do'. So your part this year is a comedic part, you are comedic and you play a hairstylist," Murphy told Peters (via Deadline).
For anyone disappointed by Cult's all-too-believable storyline, Murphy teased that season eight is "heightened".
"It's not necessarily as real and grounded as the past season. We're sort of getting back to Asylum and Coven. That's the tone of it," he outlined.

As for the rumours that Anjelica Huston will be joining the already-confirmed cast, Murphy said that they're "talking".
It was recently confirmed that season eight will mark the return of Kathy Bates, alongside the expected return of Sarah Paulson.
American Horror Story is expected to return on FX in the US and FOX UK later in the year.
