We're just under two months away until Star Trek: Discovery finally premieres on our screens – and now we've got a few new exclusive pics to take a gander at.

These include a stern-looking Sonequa Martin-Green as First Officer Michael Burnham, Michelle Yeoh's Philippa Georgiou seemingly intrigued by something, and a pretty wondrous shot of the space around them.

The first Star Trek show since Enterprise finished back in 2005, Discovery is set roughly a decade before the events of the original 1960s series and is separate from the current feature films.

The new series, made up of 15 episodes (rather than the previously announced 13), will follow the voyages of Starfleet on their missions to discover new worlds and new lifeforms, although it will also include many nods to the alien species and iconic villains that fans have loved for more than 50 years.

Just last weekend, we got a brand-new trailer that was dropped right into the heart of Comic-Con.

In it, we got a bit more context as to how USS Shenzhou's first officer Michael Burnham ultimately ends up in the crew of the USS Discovery under the command of Captain Gabriel Lorca (Jason Isaacs).

Plus, also from Comic-Con, is some lovely news that the new series will feature an LGBT+ relationship.

In the US, CBS will air the first Star Trek: Discovery episode on Sunday, September 24, before new episodes premiere on streaming platform CBS All Access, while Netflix will stream the show in the UK.
