When Netflix officially announced a second season of breakout hit 13 Reasons Why was to air in 2018, one of the biggest questions viewers and fans had was how the series would continue now Hannah Baker's story had seemingly been told.

Well, it's a question showrunner Brian Yorkey has been asked a lot too and, speaking at a Netflix For Your Consideration panel, he provided a few answers.

"My response is, 'What story is over?'" Yorkey said (via Mashable). "'Well, Hannah's story is over.' Well, Hannah told her version of events, but there are at least 12 kids who have another version of those events that we actually haven't really heard from yet.

"So I think there's quite a bit more of Hannah's story to tell."

He went on to stress that this doesn't mean Hannah lied on the tapes, saying that she used them to "reclaim her narrative", but Yorkey did tease that the show's second season could unpick a lot of events and the way Hannah saw them to reveal a bigger picture.

"There are other people who might want to tell that story differently or who are players in that story who might have a different perspective on some of those events," he said.

"I think season two will see us look at a lot of the events that we think we know how they went down and maybe learn they're more complicated than we first thought."

Of course, what this does mean is that Katherine Langford will be back as Hannah Baker despite the show depicting her suicide. It's a return that Katherine herself was "pleasantly surprised" by.

"We're going to see Hannah in flashbacks," she added. "We haven't really gone into that much detail but I know that we're going to continue that dialogue and keep developing the story.

"I knew that Netflix and the creators would only come back for a season two if it was going to add to the story. So when I found out I was coming back and I get to be a part of it, I was just even more excited.

"I would love to see the quieter moments in Hannah's life that we didn't get to see covered in season one. It would be really interesting to see some of those missing pieces. And I'm really excited to see who the new narrator is."

New narrator?! Let's start the guesswork now. Could the new narrator be Clay (Dylan Minnette) as he begins to move on and accept Hannah's death? Or how about the Bakers as their lawsuit against the school gets under way?

Or how about Alex (Miles Heizer), who ended season one in a critical condition after suffering a gunshot wound? Could we be about to see his story play out against Hannah's?

We already know the second season will pick up "a number of months" after season one and that the tapes won't be a part of the narrative anymore, but everything else is just pure speculation at this point.

13 Reasons Why is available to stream on Netflix now.
