The UK may have only just cleared the excellent third episode of Sky Atlantic's Big Little Lies but in the US, HBO showed the penultimate episode this Sunday (March 26), packed again with plenty of drama and conversation. But it was a certain appendage that stole the show.

Spoilers and NSFW! Advance further at your own risk…

If you're keeping count, this is the second time Alexander Skarsgård has gone full frontal on the network, some four years after introducing the world to every part of his body on the season six finale of True Blood. It was a beautiful moment that lasted a mere three to four seconds because Eric began to burn. And, well, you know the rest.

Like True Blood, Alex's nude scene as Perry in Big Little Lies was also dark (no, really, the room was not well lit) and painful. Extremely painful. Perhaps even more painful than burning due to lack of fairie blood.

Not taking Celeste (Nicole Kidman) seriously when she says she has to get ready for Madeline's (Reese Witherspoon) Avenue Q show and has no time for sex, Perry suffers quite the injury by way of the nearest object in the walk-in closet. Because of this exchange, viewers were treated to quite the display.

According to Twitter, the prominence of Alexander's performance actually made the penis less believable. Perhaps it was a prosthetic, or a hot dog from Five Guys. Perhaps this is what happens when you've just been watching too many hours of television.

Or perhaps, HBO is starting a little big trend and is just waiting for the rest of the world to catch up. Either way, nice work, Alexander Skarsgård.
