Iron Fist has been heavily criticised for its racially insensitive casting of the titular character, but white lead Finn Jones believes the new Netflix series does a "good job" of representing people of different cultures.
An Asian-American actor as Danny Rand would have helped in avoiding the offensive "white saviour" narrative of the comics. But despite playing the character, Jones has said that he is a firm believer in diversity and is "proud" to be part of a series which according to him supports it.
"I think our show represents a very wonderful, diverse cast of actors," Jones told The Independent, "and I'm proud of our show for doing that.
"Not only female, but actors from all different backgrounds.
"There are actors in our show who are in the last six episodes whose names haven't even been released yet. And so, I think we're doing a good job representing actors from different cultures."
On the other hand, Colleen Wing star Jessica Henwick did not comment on the issue when asked for her thoughts on the subject.

This isn't the first time Jones has talked up the "diverse" cast, but it could be seen as a way to deflect criticism of his problematic casting as Iron Fist.
Henwick previously said that people should give Jones a chance as Danny Rand, claiming that her co-star "smashes it out the park".
And Jones has admitted he is frustrated with the strong backlash surrounding his casting.
"There's so much outrage in the internet these days, right?" he told Vulture. "Why don't people just... look, the issue is that people are judging before they've even seen the show.
"C'mon. Don't get angry and start a mob when you don't even - you haven't even seen the show! You don't even know what we're doing with it. It's unjust. It's unfair.
"Let's get angry at the real f**king injustices in the world, yeah? The real problems in the world."
Iron Fist launches Friday, March 17 on Netflix.
