Marvel star Jessica Henwick has revealed that she nearly landed the role of Rey in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Henwick, who played Colleen Wing in Marvel's Netflix show Iron Fist, played X-wing pilot Jess Pava in JJ Abrams' 2015 movie.
However, the actress has explained that she originally auditioned to star as Rey – a process that took her six months.

"I was auditioning for a different character, actually, so I spent six months auditioning for [Rey]," Henwick told The Hollywood Reporter. "And then, at the end, JJ said, 'I want you to be in the film, but I want to write a character for you'.
"That's how Jess Pava was created. But after six months, you can't help but just desperately want [the original role].
"So, I was a mess at the end of those six months."
Nevertheless, when asked how Star Wars' Jess is doing, Henwick joked: "Jess Pava is alive and well. You can read up on all her adventures in new spinoff comic books."
Elsewhere, Henwick joined the cast of The Matrix 4 in a key leading role last year where she'll be starring alongside franchise favourites Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss.
The actress is also known for playing in Game of Thrones as Nymeria Sand (one of the Sand Snakes) and we'll see her next in horror film Underwater, Godzilla vs Kong, and Monster Problems.
