Lena Dunham went full-on Basic Instinct on Girls last week – but she's adamant it was not porn.
A scene from the HBO series' most recent episode caused a stir online, when Dunham's Hannah Horvath revealed she was wearing no underwear a la Sharon Stone in the infamous Basic Instinct.
"We saw everything that I had to offer," she admitted on Late Night With Seth Meyers.
"It was shocking to me also. The thing is when they told me about it in the writers' room, I was like, 'C'mon guys, don't do this to me'.
"Then five months later I was sitting there on the set listening to the director say they needed to add an extra key light because they couldn't see quite clearly enough. I had to have an extra light for my vagina!'

However, Dunham drew a major distinction between nudity for dramatic effect and pornography.
"Here's why it's not porn," Dunham argued: "In our conservative nation, I didn't go all the way."
She continued: "You don't see what's inside so I feel like I can continue to proudly campaign for a presidential candidate without getting fired."
Dunham has been an outspoken supporter of Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton in recent months.
Girls continues on Sunday (April 10) in the US on HBO. Sky Atlantic airs the series in the UK.
