Lena Dunham has responded to criticism of Girls' sex scenes.
The show's creator and star attended a PaleyFest panel on Sunday (March 8) alongside her co-stars Allison Williams, Alex Karpovsky and Andrew Rannells.
Executive producers Judd Apatow, Jenni Konner, Bruce Eric Kaplan and Ilene S Landress also attended the event.
Discussing the use of sex and nudity on the series, Dunham said: "We try to do sex that pushes the characters and is not gratuitous."
Kaplan added: "There's a lot of effort and desire to be really truthful in this show."
Meanwhile, Williams joked about one of her scenes which was cut from a recent episode, saying: "We're at the point now where masturbating is so boring."
