True Blood couple Stephen Moyer and Anna Paquin will partner with Jack Black to produce the HBO miniseries Madame X.
Paquin will star in this adaptation of Kate Manning's novel My Notorious Life about the scandalous story of Axie Muldoon.
Taking place in Victorian-era New York City, Axie is a midwife and abortionist at a time when both professions are frowned upon.
Her scandalous profession puts Axie at odds with politician and moralist Anthony Comstock.
The Keeping Room's Julia Hart is adapting My Notorious Life for the pay channel and Humpday filmmaker Lynn Shelton will direct the pilot, reports TheWrap.
This project will extend Moyer and Paquin's relationship with HBO following the end of True Blood, while Black is returning to television in HBO's political comedy series The Brink.
Moyer recently signed on to star in Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter's historical drama series The Bastard Executioner for FX.
