FX has released the tantalising trailer for its new series Kindred, which is an adaptation of Octavia E. Butler's sci-fi novel.

Kindred, which will stream on Hulu beginning on Tuesday, December 13, features WeCrashed actor Mallori Johnson and True Blood star Ryan Kwanten.

Johnson plays Dana James, a young Black woman dreaming of being a writer who relocates to Los Angeles to reclaim her future, according to Hulu's official description of the show. The trailer shows her having to face various trials and tribulations that she can't explain.

However, before she can even begin to settle into her new home and life, she finds herself being pulled through time. She winds up at a 19th-century plantation, which is linked closely to Dana's family.

Interracial romances connect Dana's past and present lives and she has to race against time to uncover secrets about her and her family's life to make sense of what is happening to her before it is too late.
