Disney+ is set to reboot Bryan Cranston's classic '00s sitcom Malcolm in the Middle, with key cast members returning.
Original series creator Linwood Boomer has revived the family comedy for a limited, four-episode run – just in time for the show's 25th anniversary next year. A premiere date has yet to be confirmed (via Variety).
Frankie Muniz will reprise his role as Malcolm, while Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek are set to return as Malcolm's parents Hal and Lois.
The trio confirmed the exciting news in a video shared to the official Disney+ Instagram account on Friday (December 13).

"I have been waiting for this moment for 18 years. Let's find out where Malcolm and his family are now," Muniz said in the clip, before Cranston added: "It's been 25 years since we premiered Malcolm in the Middle. I'm so excited that I may have peed just a little bit."

"What a delight that I get to yell at that kid again," Kaczmarek concluded. "We are very, very excited about coming back together and seeing what this family has been up to."
The reboot's official logline reads: "Malcolm (Muniz) and his daughter are drawn into the family's chaos when Hal (Cranston) and Lois (Kaczmarek) demand his presence for their 40th wedding anniversary party."

Boomer will write the new episodes, while Ken Kwapis will direct. 20th Television and New Regency, whose joint venture Regency Television was behind the original series, are producing for Disney Branded Entertainment.
"Malcom in the Middle is a landmark sitcom that captured the essence of family life with humour, heart and relatability," said Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television.
"Its hilarious and heartfelt portrayal of a lovably chaotic family resonated with audiences of all ages, and we're so excited to welcome the original cast back to bring that magic to life again.

Malcolm in the Middle originally aired on Fox for seven seasons from 2000 to 2006, and it centred around young genius Malcolm and his family, particularly their dysfunctional relationships and inability to fit into society.
Its single-camera filming style went on to be used in many sitcoms, including The Office, 30 Rock, Modern Family and Arrested Development.
During its six-year run, the show earned seven Emmy Awards, a Grammy Award and a Peabody Award.
Malcolm in the Middle is streaming now on Disney+.
