Fans of Breaking Bad star Giancarlo Esposito better hurry if they want to catch the star in a revenge thriller before it leaves Netflix UK. The actor, known for playing villain Gus Fring on both Breaking Bad and spin-off Better Call Saul, is the star of six-part drama Parish, in which he plays a bereaved father hellbent on avenging his son.
Originally aired on AMC in 2024, the series developed by Danny Brocklehurst is based on the creator's British series The Driver, which had The Walking Dead's David Morrissey in the lead role. The US adaptation stars Esposito as Gracián 'Gray' Parish, a man with a checkered past.
After giving up a life of crime to start a limousine business, Gray is roped into his old line of work after his son is brutally murdered and his company goes under, ending up on "a high-stakes collision course with a violent criminal syndicate".

The series is currently available to stream on Netflix in the UK, though not for long - Parish is marked 'leaving soon' on the streamer, which means it may be better to binge it to be on the safe side.
Described as "adrenaline-charged" by Rotten Tomatoes, the thriller series has an audience score of 73%, but wasn't as popular with critics. Parish has a meagre critic rating of 36%, with reviews labelling it "a cobbled-together journey with no distinct destination" (via Variety) and "joyless retread" (via Times-Picayune).

The cinematography and Esposito's performance in the lead role appear to be the show's redeeming qualities, with Salon.com writing: "Esposito's talent demands original writing that rarely presents itself here."
Under the Radar added: "Parish's sputtering story, and even worse dialogue, are all the more stark because its direction and cinematography are as slick as the limousines Gray ferries clients in in his effort to go straight."
Esposito stars opposite Scream actor Skeet Ulrich and The Handmaid's Tale and The Testaments' Amanda Brugel, as well as Zackary Momoh and Paula Malcomson.
Parish is streaming on Netflix UK.
