Prime Video has officially renewed The Boys for a fifth season – exactly one month ahead of the season four release date.

The future of the satirical superhero series was confirmed by bosses at an Amazon Prime Video presentation today (May 14), who shared their delight at the show's continued success and excitement for what a fifth instalment could mean.

"The Boys is an unabashed and bold series that continues captivating our customers all over the world by piercing the cultural fabric season after season," said Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios.

"We are proud of this series that has grown into a global franchise, and we are thrilled that Eric Kripke and the creative team have more engaging stories to tell for all the loyal fans."

The renewal comes ahead of The Boys' season four release, with the first three episodes dropping on Prime Video on June 13. A new episode of the eight-part series will then drop weekly, with the finale streaming on July 18.

Filming for season four wrapped in April last year, with fans having to wait over a year for the next instalment.

In November 2023, Prime Video announced a new Mexico-set spin-off was in the works, expanding The Boys franchise further. The original series currently has two offshoots: Gen V and the animated anthology The Boys Presents: Diabolical.

The Boys seasons 1-3 are streaming on Prime Video, along with spin-off Gen V. Season 4 will be released on June 13.
