Justin Bieber is joining So You Think You Can Dance in a recurring capacity.

The 'Beauty and a Beat' singer and his choreographer Nick DeMoura will make their first of four appearances on the Fox show's May 28 premiere as part of a dance crew challenge.

Bieber and DeMoura are to introduce performances from different dance crews, with viewers then using a special hashtag to select their favourite team.

The winning dance crew ultimately will perform on the So You Think You Can Dance season finale.

So You Think You Can Dance judges Nigel Lythgoe and Mary Murphy and host Cat Deeley are all back for the dance competition's 11th season.

Fox airs the season premiere next Wednesday (May 28) at 8pm.
