Galavis - a former soccer star - competed in The Bachelorete's ninth season, but was eliminated by Desiree Hartsock in the sixth week.

The Venezuelan native admitted to Bachelor host Chris Harrison that he struggled with his decision to star in the next season of the ABC reality competition because he is a single father.

"It was hard to make the decision. It's a great responsibility, because I'm going to find, hopefully, the person who's going to be with me and my daughter," he explained.

Galavis initially boosted his profile with Bachelorette viewers with his appearance on the Men Tell All special, following his departure.

Bachelor presenter Harrison described Galavis in the After The Final Rose special as one of the most unique contestants in the franchise's history.

"In the history of this show, no guy has made a greater impact with less screen time than our soccer-playing single dad," Harrison told viewers.

The news came after Hartsock became engaged to Chris Siegfried on the season finale of The Bachelorette tonight (August 5).

The Bachelor is expected to air on ABC early next year.
