Loki producer Kevin Wright has opened up about the future of the Disney+ series beyond season two, which premiered yesterday (October 5).

In a new interview with Deadline, he explained: "We take it season by season, and there are certainly things that Tom and I and other casts have talked about of where we see this going, and I know there’s some excitement for that internally, but just from a storytelling standpoint, I think we always conceived of seasons one and two as a whole."

While it sounds like season two could possibly mark the end of the show as we know it, Wright did also tease that "there are other stories to be told".

"That these are two chapters of the same book, and that season two is finishing that book, and there are other stories to be told there, but I think they would be new books, if that’s not too coy," he said.

Wright also confirmed that season two won't end on a huge cliffhanger like season one did, but it will still be "unexpected".

What to Read Next

"We want to be able to deliver real fulfilment in what we’re doing, but I do think it’ll be exciting and unexpected and everything people like about this show," he shared.

Elsewhere, during an interview with Digital Spy, Wright teased a new side to Tom Hiddleston's God of Mischief in season two.

"This is a Loki that we've never seen him in this kind of distress," he said. "And part of that is just a direct correlation from the end of season one, which is like he had completely selflessly given himself over to somebody in a way that he had never done before.

"So he is as emotionally raw as possible when he gets pushed through that time door. He is going in panic to those archives to hopefully find the welcoming arms of Mobius and B-15.

"And then they don't remember him, so I think it's the emotional distress he was in. And then just like the absolute devastation of, 'No one even knows who I am'."

Loki season 1 is streaming on Disney+. Season 2's first episode is available to watch now.
