Disney has been making tons of announcements and updates at its D23 Expo, from the first trailer for The Little Mermaid to the revelation of multiple animated projects and even a The Lion King prequel focusing on Mufasa.
But one thing that has been conspicuously absent is any news about the Beauty and the Beast spin-off TV series called Little Town, focusing on Gaston and LeFou, played by Luke Evans and Josh Gad, respectively.
Both actors still work with Disney, of course, with Evans starring in the new Pinocchio remake. While promoting the film to Entertainment Weekly, Evans explained what is going on with the project.

"It's been put on hold," Evans said. "We just wanna make sure that it is absolutely the best it can be, and if that means we just have to wait a little longer to finesse certain pieces of it, then that's what we're going to do because this is a very important legacy.
"We want to honour these characters with the best story we can possibly deliver. It's just on hold. It is gonna happen. We're very excited about it. At some point in the near future, it will happen."

Our review states: "The updates aren't enough to prevent comparisons to the original because the remake so closely follows the animation. Everything just feels flat and uninspired here, even the donkey transformations which have traumatised generations of children.
"If you've never watched Pinocchio and don't fancy watching the original, maybe you'll get more from the remake as, CGI issues aside, it's competently done. Despite its attempts at a poignant finale though, there's nothing here that manages to make it come fully alive."
