It's official: James Marsden is returning to Westworld for its fourth season.
The actor, who played Teddy Flood on the dystopian sci-fi drama's first and second outings left back in 2018, but made a surprise appearance at the HBO show's ATX TV Festival panel this weekend.
He joined fellow stars Evan Rachel Wood, Jeffrey Wright, Luke Hemsworth, Angela Sarafyan, and Aurora Perrineau, as well as co-creator and executive producer Lisa Joy on the panel to announce his return.
His return may well come as a bit of a surprise to many since his character is currently decommissioned, so we're going to have to wait and see how he comes back into the fold.

"Sometimes you have to go away to come back," Marsden said at the panel (via Variety). "We learn to speak cryptically on this show.

"This has been 7 years of our show and yeah, it's an amazing thing to be a part of and see where the story goes. From the beginning, I didn't know where it was all gonna go but I'm glad to see it now."
Wood's announcement may also shock a fair few Westworld fans, since her character was seemingly erased from existence in the season 3 finale.
Westworld bosses recently released a brand new season four trailer. You can see it for yourself above, and it shows Wood and others in the first footage of the upcoming season.
Also confirmed to be back for season 4? Thandiwe Newton, Ed Harris, Aaron Paul, and Tessa Thompson. Oscar winner Ariana DeBose will join them in a mysterious recurring role, TVLine reports.
Westworld airs on HBO in the US, and on Sky Atlantic and NOW in the UK. Season 4 returns to US screens on Sunday, June 26, with a UK release date yet to be announced.
