Legends of Tomorrow confirms more original cast for 100th episode

DC's Legends of Tomorrow is set to air its 100th episode on October 27, and to celebrate, it's bringing back several of its original cast members.

Earlier this month, it was announced that Wentworth Miller would be reprising his role as Captain Cold in the season 7 outing, and now the superhero show has teased the return of Arthur Darvill (Rip Hunter), Falk Hentschel (Hawkman), Courtney Ford (Nora Darhk), and Brandon Routh (Ray Palmer/the Atom) too.

Victor Garber and Franz Drameh will also be back as Dr Martin Stein and Jax, the unlikely duo that came together to form Firestorm in Legends' first three seasons.

Directed by Sara Lance actor Caity Lotz, the milestone hour will see the current Waverider crew try to reboot an overwhelmed Gideon, the ship's artificial intelligence, after she turns into a real-life, flesh-and-blood figure.

In their attempt, Astra (Olivia Swann) and Spooner (Lisseth Chavez) resolve to remind Gideon (played by Amy Pemberton, who has voiced her since the pilot) of her adventures with her former pals.

"We are exploring the memories of who we consider the O-est of the OGs, Gideon, who is the Legend before the Legends," executive producer and co-showrunner Keto Shimizu told Entertainment Weekly.

"As we explore these memories, we get to see familiar faces from all the different iterations of the Legends that she has experienced through her steadfast watch as the ship mother.

"It was a real chance to celebrate the evolution of the show," Shimizu continued. "We really wanted to take viewers back to what it was and not despairingly.

"For a story that is thematically about growth and change and embracing the new, and what challenges turn you into – the blossoming – it was really imperative that we had those people come back to both live in the new tone of the show, but also to show like, 'Hey this is what the show was and look how far it's changed and evolved since then'."

DC's Legends of Tomorrow airs on The CW in the US, and on Sky Max in the UK.
