Legends of Tomorrow casts Scrubs star in mystery season 7 role

DC's Legends of Tomorrow is set to welcome Scrubs favourite Donald Faison to the Waverider for the show's season seven finale.

Faison, who played the beloved Turk alongside Zach Braff's JD, will make his Legends of Tomorrow debut next month, where he'll star as a mysterious time traveller seeking "fame, fortune, and glory".

According to Entertainment Weekly, Legends of Tomorrow bosses are hoping Faison's appearance will mark the start of a new arc ahead of a hoped-for season eight.

So, this isn't necessarily your average cameo.

The description for Faison's unnamed character teases a "good guy deep down" whose ego gets the better of him when he realises that his "golden years" are long gone.

"While he claims to have been recruited to work for a mysterious time organization, he wasn't offered much of a choice in the matter," it continues.

"As an unauthorised time traveller with high-profile aspirations, he developed a mischievous streak and cuts a few corners along the way to achieving his dreams.

"He knows all about the Legends of Tomorrow and finds them inspiring because they are the kind of heroes who started at the ground floor, as opposed to inheriting their powers from an alien planet, a spider bite, or wealthy parents.

"But the big question is whether his respect for the team is going to be able to help the Legends out of hot water or get them into hotter water!"

Legends of Tomorrow showrunners Phil Klemmer and Keto Shimizu said in a statement that Faison's involvement is part of a "side-splitting" finale.

"We can't wait for our fans to see who he's playing, and we look forward to telling many more stories with him and our lovable misfits should we be blessed with an eighth season," they added.

Turk himself is equally excited to be on board the Waverider: "I have been a fan of Legends of Tomorrow since the first season, and have always wanted to be a part of the DC Comics universe."

Legends of Tomorrow airs on The CW in the US. It airs on Sky Max and NOW in the UK.
