Big Sky season 1 spoilers follow.

Big Sky season 2 is set to see the return of one big star from the first season… despite their character being killed off.

Fans will remember that baddie Rick Legarski (John Carroll Lynch) managed to survive a gunshot wound, only to be killed with a hammer blow to the head in hospital later on.

However, Lynch has confirmed that he himself will be back for season 2 at the Television Critics Association panel, though didn't reveal exactly who he was playing (via TheWrap).

Given that his character Legarski is very much a goner, speculation is mounting that he may play the character's twin brother, who is mentioned in the first season.

A teaser (above) narrated by Lynch also mentions "my brother", suggesting he is voicing the role of his twin in anticipation for an appearance.

The actor previously opened up about Legarski's brutal death, admitting: "I didn't know in Episode 8 that would be it for him. No idea.

"I sent a two-word email to [executive producers] Ross [Fineman] and Matt [Gross] and David [E. Kelley]: 'Perfect. Just perfect.' It was a perfect way for him to go.

"And her saying, 'The idea of you getting out of this? I just can't deal with.' I think she speaks for America when she says that. The idea of Rick Legarski getting away with it is too much."

Meanwhile, star Jesse James Keitel has said that Big Sky season one "teetered on some dangerous tropes" in regards to telling their character Jerrie Kennedy's story.

Big Sky season 2 will premiere on September 30 at 10pm on ABC, and will be available soon after on Star on Disney+ in other territories, including the UK.
