DC's Legends of Tomorrow has revealed Matt Ryan will return for season 7 as a new character.
The actor portrays John Constantine on the hit show's sixth season but at Comic-Con over the weekend, it was confirmed he will exit as Constantine and reappear in a new original role next season.
Matt will play Dr. Gwyn Davies in season 7, who is described as an "eccentric scientist from the early 20th century who might be the team's only hope".

"As everyone who loves him knows, in the end, John Constantine will walk his path alone," Matt said.
"The time has come for John to part ways with the Legends, and for me to part ways with John.
"I'm really excited to be creating this new role on the show and having some fun with it – discovering how this new character fits in and causes some trouble for the Legends."
The announcement follows Legends of Tomorrow bringing back Zari (Tala Ashe) in a major season 6 twist.

It also follows the show confirming 90210 actor AnnaLynne McCord will appear as a guest star this season.
Legends of Tomorrow airs on The CW in the US. It airs on Sky One and NOW in the UK.
